Upscale Image
Upscaling multiplies the pixel dimensions of an image using smooth interpolation. It is useful when a platform demands a larger file than you have, but it cannot invent detail that was never captured.

How to upscale image
- Upload the image you want to enlarge.
- Choose a 2x, 3x or 4x factor.
- Download the enlarged image.
What upscaling can and cannot do
Interpolation calculates each new pixel by blending its neighbours. That gives you a larger image with smooth edges rather than visible blocks - but the extra pixels carry no new information.
Expect a softer result the further you push it. 2x from a reasonable original is usually acceptable; 4x from a small thumbnail will look obviously blurry.
This is classic interpolation, not a model that invents detail. It is predictable and fast, and it never fabricates a face or texture that was not there.
Frequently asked questions
Does my image leave my device?
No. The file is read and edited by your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy on a server.
Will upscaling make a blurry photo sharp?
No. Detail that was never captured cannot be recovered. Upscaling makes the image bigger and keeps edges smooth, but it will not add sharpness.
What is the best starting point?
Always the highest-resolution original you have. Upscaling an already-compressed thumbnail magnifies its compression artefacts along with everything else.
