Watermark Image
A watermark marks an image as yours and makes casual reuse obvious. This tool draws semi-transparent text over the picture and hands the result straight back to you.

How to watermark image
- Upload the image you want to mark.
- Type your watermark text, such as a name, domain or copyright notice.
- Adjust the opacity so it is readable but not distracting, then download.
Making a watermark that actually works
Opacity between 25% and 50% is the usual sweet spot: visible enough to discourage reuse, faint enough that the image still reads.
Placing it across the middle is harder to crop out than a corner mark, but it also gets in the way of the subject. For portfolio work a corner is normally enough; for pre-sale proofs, go across the centre.
A watermark deters casual copying. It is not copy protection - anyone determined can edit it out - so keep the unmarked original safe.
Frequently asked questions
Does my image leave my device?
No. The file is read and edited by your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy on a server.
Can I use an image or logo as the watermark?
This tool applies text only. For a logo overlay, export your logo as artwork and composite it in an image editor.
Does a watermark stop people stealing my photo?
It discourages casual reuse and makes the source obvious when the image is shared. It is not a technical protection and can be removed by someone determined to do so.
