How to sign pdf

  1. Upload the PDF you need to sign.
  2. Type your name, or upload a signature image with a transparent background.
  3. Position it on the correct page, then download the signed PDF.

Visual signature vs digital signature

What this produces is a visual signature: an image of your name drawn onto the page. It is what most everyday agreements, internal approvals and delivery notes actually ask for.

A digital signature is a different thing entirely. It uses a cryptographic certificate issued to you, binds itself to the file contents, and lets a reader verify that nothing changed after signing. It cannot be produced by drawing on a page, and this tool does not claim to.

If a counterparty specifies a qualified or certificate-based signature - common in property, finance and cross-border contracts - you need a certificate provider, not this.

Getting a clean signature image

Sign a white sheet with a dark pen, photograph it straight on in good light, then remove the background so only the strokes remain. The background remover in the image tools does this in one pass and gives you the transparent PNG this tool expects.

Without transparency you get a white rectangle sitting over the document, which looks obviously pasted on.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and rewritten by your browser, so it never leaves your device. That matters for contracts, invoices and anything with personal data in it.

Is this legally binding?

That depends on your jurisdiction and on what the agreement requires. Many places accept a visual signature for ordinary contracts, but anything demanding a qualified or certificate-based signature needs proper signing software.

Can the signature be removed by someone else?

Yes. It is drawn onto the page like any other content, so it carries no tamper protection. That protection is exactly what a cryptographic signature adds.
