How to blur image area

  1. Upload the image containing the detail you want to hide.
  2. Set the region to blur and how strong the blur should be.
  3. Check that nothing readable remains, then download the result.

Blur strength and why it matters

A light blur can sometimes be reversed. Text and number plates in particular survive weak blurring surprisingly well, because the underlying shapes remain in the pixel data.

Use a strong blur over a generous area - cover more than you think you need, and check the downloaded file at full zoom before sharing it.

For anything genuinely sensitive, a solid block is safer than any blur, because it removes the information rather than smearing it.

Frequently asked questions

Does my image leave my device?

No. The file is read and edited by your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy on a server.

Can a blur be reversed?

A weak blur sometimes can, especially over text and numbers. A strong blur over a generous area is far safer, and a solid block is safest of all.

Does this blur faces automatically?

No. You choose the region yourself, which means nothing is missed by a detection model that failed to spot a face at an angle.
