How to pick a random name
- Paste your list into the box, one name or item per line.
- Blank lines are ignored automatically, so pasting from a spreadsheet is fine.
- Press Pick a random name.
- Draw again as many times as you need, or remove a winner from the list before drawing the next one.
Running a fair draw
Every entry has exactly the same chance of being picked, using the browser's cryptographically secure random source.
If somebody appears twice in your list, they have twice the chance of winning. Remove duplicates first unless the extra entries are intentional.
For a giveaway people can question, record the draw on screen or run it in front of witnesses. The list is visible the whole time, which makes the process easy to demonstrate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pick more than one winner?
Draw once, remove that name from the list, then draw again. That guarantees different winners each time.
Is my list stored anywhere?
No. It stays in your browser and disappears when you close the page.
How many names can I add?
There is no fixed limit. Thousands of lines are handled without difficulty.
